— -- After news of Amanda Peterson's death earlier this week, her "Can't Buy Me Love" co-star Patrick Dempsey took to Twitter to pay tribute.

"In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young. Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda's family," wrote the 49-year-old actor, who starred alongside Peterson in the 1987 hit film.

Peterson's mother Sylvia confirmed the news to ABC, saying her daughter's death at age 43 was "unexpected." The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but she was found in her home in Colorado. Peterson left acting in 1994 after a short, but successful career.

After "Can't Buy Me Love," Dempsey went on to star in a string of other movies and most recently, a long run on the hit show "Grey's Anatomy."
