Paula Patton Returns to Social Media

— -- Paula Patton has returned to social media after an extended break.

The 41-year-old actress tweeted Tuesday for the first time since early 2014. "Please forgive my long absence!" she wrote. "Feeling so grateful for every second of this life. If any of you are still out there, thank you & I'm sorry!"

Her 182,000 followers were happy to see her back.

Patton's last tweet before now was on April 7, 2014, when she celebrated her now-6-year-old son Julian's birthday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Back then, she was in the midst of her split from Julian's father, singer Robin Thicke, 39. Patton first announced her separation from Thicke in February 2014.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," she told People at the time.

Though the singer tried to win her back with public apologies and musical tributes, she filed for divorce that fall. Their divorce was finalized in 2015.

Now, the actress is slowly starting to date again.

"I haven’t been doing too much of it, it’s kind of strange," Patton told Essence magazine's digital weekly show, "Essence Live." "Listen ... I met [Thicke] when I was 15 years old, and I have no idea what I'm doing."

"I’ve learned a lot about myself and a lot about a lot of other people and what I like and don’t like," said the actress, who was married to Thicke for 10 years.

One thing she's learning is how to be alone.

"It’s freeing," she said of being by herself. "It’s scary at the beginning. It’s really scary. But it’s something I’m coming to embrace, knowing that’s really what it is now -- learning to love yourself, enjoying your time with your friends and family, and then it will sort itself out. But I gotta figure all that out I think first. I have to learn that."
