— -- It’s official. People magazine has named actress Sandra Bullock the World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2015.

In an interview with People magazine, Bullock, 50, shared her reaction to learning she would receive the accolade.

“I laughed. No, really, I just said ‘That’s ridiculous,’” Bullock, said, adding that she’d told no one the news.

Bullock is in fine company. Last year’s Most Beautiful Woman was actress Lupita Nyong'o. Other winners include actress/singer Jennifer Lopez, actress Jennifer Aniston and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

"It’s one of my favorite ones,” Jess Cagle, People's Editorial Director, said of the magazine's choice of Bullock.

"The photos are staggering when you look at them and you realize that this woman just gets better and better over time," Cagle said today on "Good Morning America." "She has defined her life the way she wants to live it."

In the interview, on newsstands Friday, the “Gravity” star opened up about the joy of motherhood to son Louis, 5. She said her role as mother is the one that makes her feel most beautiful.

“When I first held him, I realized what my purpose in life was,” she said. “I’m the lucky one.”

She talked about her definition of beauty and what she’s learned about love.

“Everything I’ve learned about love I’ve learned from Louis, and that there is no such thing as being done loving. We have a lot of it,” she said.

Motherhood has changed her, she said. When her son asks her serious questions, she is honest with him on a level he can comprehend.

“It’s a beautiful thing,” she said. “I want him to be a good man who is good to women and really in touch with how he feels.”

Other stars included in the Most Beautiful issue are actresses Taraji P. Henson, Laverne Cox and Vanessa Hudgens, and singers Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor.
