Behind the Scenes of ‘Fresh Off the Boat’
Chris Connelly sat down with the stars of the hit ABC comedy.
— -- Actor Hudson Yang may be just 12 years old, but few TV characters represent for old-school music like his character Eddie Huang on ABC's comedy “Fresh Off the Boat.”
Yang, together with 11-year-old Forrest Wheeler, who plays Emery, and Ian Chen, 9, as Evan, had to get up to speed on the pop culture of the mid-1990s, when the sitcom is set.
“I had to learn a lot because I didn't know about a lot of stuff,” Wheeler told ABC News in an interview for "Good Morning America."
"I probably had to learn, a lot, too, like, about the rap music, about the culture," Yang said.
ABC News’ Chris Connelly went behind the scenes with the cast to the eclectic wardrobe trailer.
Along with the laughs, “Fresh Off the Boat” looks to portray the rhythms and realities within the home of an Asian-American family and the interplay between the high-achieving parents, chasing the American dream and their three sons. The significance is no secret to the show’s stars Randall Park and Constance Wu.
“That's incredibly rewarding and very meaningful to me,” Wu said.
“It's pretty exciting. With our Chinese New Year episode, I don't know if that topic has ever been explored in a family sitcom format,” Park said.
