Scott Foley Calls Being Father of Three Small Kids 'Insane'
"Scandal" star is the father of three small kids under 6.
Feb. 10, 2015— -- Scott Foley's character on "Scandal" has nothing on the actor's real life as a father of three small children under 6.
"Fatherhood is insane," Foley, 42, told People magazine at the 46th annual NAACP Awards on Friday in Pasadena, California. "I’m lucky enough to have three healthy children."
Even if those three children wake him in the middle of the night.
"I’m lucky enough to be woken up every day between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m," Foley quipped.
Surprisingly, three-month-old Konrad isn't the one doing the waking. It's his big brother, Keller.
"My 2 1/2-year-old, if he doesn’t 'drop' anything at 3 a.m., it’s a good night," Foley said, with a laugh.
The actor also has five-year-old daughter Malina.
To make up for his sleepless night, the actor sneaks naps on the set of "Scandal," where he plays Captain Jake Ballard.
"I nap at lunch. But if I take up any longer than 10 minutes, I’m a wreck for the day," he said.
He also fibs to wife Marika Dominczyk.
"I make up call times," he confessed to People. "If I have to be [on set] at 9 a.m., I’ll say, 'Sorry, babe, I got to be there at 7.' Then, I sleep in my trailer for a couple hours."
With all the craziness of balancing long days on the set with his full life at home---they also have a new dog---Foley said the key to making it all work is keeping it simple.
"We keep it together because we’re pretty simple," he said. "This [Hollywood glamour] is all fake. We make dinner at home. We sit with the kids. We do crossword puzzles at night between watching 'The Bachelor' and 'Scandal.'"
