— -- Two weeks ahead of the premiere of the hotly anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” a “Star Wars”-themed launch bay has opened at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando.

ABC News senior meteorologist Rob Marciano was on hand for the opening of the bay – an immersive attraction that allows visitors to become a Jedi and step onto the bridge of a Star destroyer or go to a hidden base, all while interacting with iconic characters from the film.

Marciano talked with some of those characters, including Stormtroopers, Darth Vader and Chewbacca. He also toured the attraction’s concession area, whose themed offerings included Darth Vader chicken and waffles and Bantham Blue milkshakes.

He also talked to Michael Roddy, show director at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“You get to step into the saga every single day. This is the only place where guests can interact with Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers...this is where you can come and play. Nothing else like it,” Roddy said, adding: “It’s a memory that will last a lifetime.”

The launch bay opened to visitors on Friday. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in theaters on Dec. 18.

"The Force Awakens" was produced by Lucasfilm, a division of Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
