Stars React to the Death of Misty Upham
Meryl Streep, Melissa Leo are among those to speak out about the actress.
— -- Hollywood is mourning the death of actress Misty Upham.
"So so sad to hear this news," her "August: Osage County" co-star, Meryl Streep, told The Hollywood Reporter. "All our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit."
Police in the Auburn suburb of Seattle told the Associated Press on Thursday that they have discovered what they believe to be the body of Upham, 32, who went missing a few days ago.
"Although we do not have positive identification of the body, it is presumed to be Misty Upham," police spokesman Steve Stocker said in a statement to the AP. "At this point we do not have any evidence or information to believe there is foul play."
Fellow actors have spoken out about the death of Upham, who also had roles in "Frozen River" and "Django Unchained."
"Such a loss... so sad, so so sad," Melissa Leo told The Hollywood Reporter. "I hope too that her talent is remembered more than any troubles we surely will never understand. She was a smart, delightful actor, a spirit wild and hungry. I know I and others are honored to have had Misty in our lives."
Juliette Lewis also tweeted about the loss of her friend.
"I cant sleep. Too much darkness," she wrote. "I feel so sad about Misty. I know she has more to say. And about how she died. #RIPMistyUpham"
