Film Notes: Reid Beats Drum for 'Josie'

To be a convincing Pussycat, Tara Reid took drum lessons for two months and says she felt like a total klutz.

"The first day I went there, [my instructor] was like 'Oh, Jesus … This is not going to happen,'" says Reid, who plays skin-slapping Melody in Josie and the Pussycats, which opened Wednesday.

"I was so bad. I couldn't separate my hands from my legs. I was like 'Gonk!'"

She says her Pussycat training allowed her to taste the life of a rock celebrity, and she found it to be insane, crazy, fun and sometimes dangerous.

Josie and the Pussycats co-stars Rachel Leigh Cook as the guitar-playing leader of a three-member girl band and Rosario Dawson as Valerie, the bassist.

Reid's fiancé Carson Daly of MTV, also appears in the film — as himself.

Damon's Golf Adventure

Matt Damon was just another Hollywood hotshot taking in a golf break Monday when the crackle of gunfire near a Las Vegas course sent him running for cover.

According to authorities, no one was hurt in the incident, which wasn't reported until an hour afterward. The person who reported it said five or six shots had been fired. Police investigating the incident said they didn't find anything suspicious.

Damon, who is in Vegas filming Ocean's 11, was golfing with John Lodge of the Moody Blues.

Driver Nuptials

And Minnie Driver, who once dated Damon, is tying the knot with Josh Brolin, her boyfriend of two years.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the Good Will Hunting actress and her Hollow Man hubbie-to-be haven't set a date yet. Josh's dad, James Brolin, is married to Barbra Streisand.
