Naomi Campbell Banned From London Shop
February 21 -- Temper, temper — British supermodel Naomi Campbell was reportedly banned from an exclusive London boutique after shouting at staff members for failing to open the door for her quickly enough, according to accounts in several British newspapers.
Campbell, who pleaded guilty last year to a 1998 charge of beating her assistant with a phone, was asked to leave the members-only Voyage clothing shop after chewing out the staff for not recognizing her and opening the door to the establishment faster, the papers said today.
The 30-year-old model had apparently received no response when she rang the doorbell and only gained entry to the shop when another customer turned up.
"We apologized but she kept going on and on and on, and tried to make a problem about it," Rocky Mazilli, son of the shop's owners, was quoted as saying by the Mirror tabloid.
He told the paper that his sister asked Campbell to leave and then rang the model's agency to say her membership had been withdrawn.
However, Campbell is not the first celebrity to run into problems over Voyage's exclusive membership policy. Reportedly, Madonna and Julia Roberts have also been refused entrance to the store because no one recognized them. Other stars, Reuters reports, have also had their membership revoked for one reason another.
Mazilli refused to discuss who those other celebrities might be, although he admitted to the Mirror, "It's happened several times."
