No 'Arigato' Piven: Actor Gets Boot From Nobu
March 28, 2007 — -- No more sushi for you, Jeremy Piven!
At least, no more of world-renowned sushi chef Nobu Matsuhisa's sushi.
According to a report in the New York Daily News, Piven, one of the stars of HBO's "Entourage," has reportedly been asked to never again step foot in another Nobu restaurant.
Piven was dining at Nobu Matsuhisa while attending the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. After the meal, instead of paying the waiter a gratuity, Piven dropped the waiter a copy of his "Entourage" DVD.
A witness told the Daily News that "[Piven] came in with a large group of 12 or more without reservations and asked for a table."
The restaurant was crowded, but the staff reportedly went out of its way to accommodate Piven and his pals. When the waiter saw he didn't receive a monetary tip after the huge meal and had instead gotten a DVD, the witness says he was outraged and threw it back at Piven.
The actor has since been told he is not invited back to any of Nobu's restaurants.
Piven, who plays Ari Gold, the lewd, rude and crude agent to the stars, in the comedy series, played down the incident.
"I'm such a fan of Nobu and all of his restaurants. I had a great dinner at the Nobu in Aspen. As always, the meal was excellent and the service was great," he told the Daily News through his representative.
It seems that Piven may need a lesson on how to leave the obnoxious character he plays at the restaurant door.
