Ty Pennington apologized after he was arrested for DUI.
May 7, 2007— -- Trouble in Ty-land.
Ty Pennington was arrested early Saturday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Officer George McNeil of the West Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department told ABC News, "[Ty Pennington] was arrested for a DUI and a misdemeanor," adding that Pennington cooperative at the time of his arrest.
The carpenter-turned-host of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" was released two hours later after posting $5,000 bail.
Pennington's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, had no comment on his client's behavior, but he sent ABC News the following statement from Pennington:
"I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others, and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."
Pennington launched onto the TV celebrity circuit with the Learning Channel's hit show "Trading Spaces." He became known for his quirky sense of humor and creative style, and has since gone on to host ABC's hit home makeover show.
