Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun get engaged in Paris

Getting engaged in Paris is super romantic, and Avril Lavigne knows from personal experience.

On Thursday, the singer shared an Instagram post featuring a photo of her boyfriend, fellow musician Mod Sun, proposing to her on a boat cruising down the Seine with the Eiffel Tower in the background. In a series of photos, Lavigne shows off her heart-shaped diamond ring as Mod Sun grins.

Lavigne captioned the photo, "Oui! Je t'aime pour toujours," which is French for, "Yes! I love you always!" She also wrote in French that the happy event took place on Sunday, March 27.

Mod Sun's Instagram post featured photos and videos of the moment. In the caption, he wrote, "The day we met I knew you were the one. Together forever til our days are done. I had a dream where I proposed in Paris. I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it. I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes. You're too beautiful for my words to describe. I grabbed your hand + took one last breath… I said 'will you marry me?' + she said 'yes.'"

Lavigne and Mod Sun, born Derek Ryan Smith, have been dating since early 2021. This will be the "Sk8er Boi" singer's third marriage; she was previously married to fellow Canadian musicians Deryck Whibley, of Sum 41, from 2006 until 2010, and Chad Kroeger, of Nickelback, from 2013 until 2015.
