Brad Pitt has been a household name for decades, but 2020 might be the biggest year in his career.

After picking up a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild award and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," it seems that the actor could be on his way to earning his first-ever acting Oscar.

Pitt, 56, been nominated three other times for acting; he was also part of the "12 Years a Slave" producing team that won the award for best picture in 2014.

"Good Morning America" looked back at the actor's turns on the Oscars red carpet through the years.

In 1992, Pitt attended the Oscars on the arm of his girlfriend at the time, best supporting actress nominee Juliette Lewis. Lewis had been recognized for her work on "Cape Fear," while Pitt had just had a career-changing appearance in the Oscar-nominated film "Thelma & Louise." The two split the next year.

Pitt earned his first-ever Oscar nomination -- a nod in the best supporting actor category -- for playing a mental patient in "12 Monkeys," and attended the awards show with Gwyneth Paltrow, whom he called "my angel" in his Golden Globes acceptance speech weeks earlier, according to People. They got engaged later that year, when he was shooting "Seven Years in Tibet" in Argentina, but broke up in 1997. Paltrow later took credit for the split.

It would be another decade or so before Pitt would earn another Oscars nod, but in 2009 he was nominated for best actor for his starring role in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." At that point, he was about four years into his relationship with Angelina Jolie, who, the previous summer, had given birth to their twins, Knox and Vivienne. It was an exciting night for the couple, as Jolie was also nominated for her work on "The Changeling," though neither won.

Three years later, Pitt returned to the Oscars, again with Jolie, to celebrate his two Oscar nominations. Pitt was nominated for best actor for playing baseball general manager Billy Beane in "Moneyball," and also garnered his first-ever best picture nod, as he produced the movie, too.

Their last Oscars appearance together -- just months before they officially married in August 2014 -- was a big one, as both Pitt and Jolie were winners. Pitt earned a best picture Oscar for producing "12 Years a Slave," and a few months prior, at the Governors Awards, Jolie accepted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her charitable work. The couple, who share six children, announced their separation in 2016.
