Country legend Dolly Parton is celebrating her 75th birthday Tuesday.

On the special day, the music icon shared a post in which she thanked her fans for their messages and described her birthday wish.

"This year my wish is a call for kindness," she wrote alongside a smiling throwback photo. "We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day."

She went on to describe that she feels "love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear."

The singer urged her fans to "work to dig it out so we can share it with our family, our friends and our neighbors."

"So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love," she added.

One unique way Parton celebrates her birthday every year is by writing a song, she told Billboard in December.

"It's a commemorative thing to write something on my birthday -- it's what I do and what I am," she said during an interview for the magazine's Women in Music Issue. "I just think it's my gift to myself."

She also described songwriting as her "therapy."

"I really think my music has saved me and saved a lot of other people, because I'm able to write the feelings of people who are broken and don't know how to express it," she explained.

Along with releasing countless hits throughout her distinguished career, Parton also uses her platform to support humanitarian causes and charitable initiatives.

She made headlines late last year for her contributions in the search for a COVID-19 vaccine. Parton donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which supported Moderna's coronavirus vaccine.
