'Desperate Housewives' alums Teri Hatcher and James Denton to reunite for holiday film
The film is part of the Hallmark Channel's annual "Countdown to Christmas."
Former "Desperate Housewives" co-stars Teri Hatcher and James Denton are reuniting for an upcoming holiday movie.
The duo confirmed Wednesday that they are starring in a new Hallmark Channel movie, "A Kiss Before Christmas." Denton and Hatcher famously played on-screen couple Mike and Susan Delfino on the ABC drama, which ran from 2004 to 2012.
In Hatcher's Instagram announcement, she shared, "You guys, I'm so excited! I am finally working again, and you want to know why it's even more exciting?"
She then pans the camera over to Denton, who waves while also grinning. "Can you believe?" Hatcher continues. "Yeah, it's a thing! Stay tuned."
According to Hallmark, Denton, who is also executive producing the film, will play a Ethan Holt, a husband and father of two who loses out on a promotion and wishes on Christmas Eve that his life had gone in a different direction.
His wish comes true and he wakes up with a different life: He's no longer married to Joyce (Hatcher), doesn't have kids and is the CEO of his real estate development company. He then goes on a mission to get his old life back, but he has only one day to do so.
"From the very beginning I wanted the first Hallmark Christmas movie I produced to be unique," Denton said in a statement. "I had no idea that we'd be lucky enough to get Teri. We've always wanted to work together again, and we found the perfect vehicle for what I think is the first 'Desperate Housewives' reunion. And since we're on Hallmark, I don't have to worry about getting shot at the end."
Hatcher also referenced that famous scene in season 8 of "Desperate Housewives" when Mike was killed by sharing a split of the moment alongside their updated selfie together.
"Resurrected in the best way!" she captioned the post. "We're back and ALIVE for this charming heartfelt #christmasmovie on @hallmarkchannel Coming in November. #dontmissit #gladtobeback"
"The chemistry and friendship we had on 'Desperate Housewives' is alive and well all these years later and the loving, warm spirit of the holidays is the perfect backdrop for reuniting," Hatcher said in a statement. "It's amazing to be back together. It's just like old times."
Hatcher and Denton's film is one of the 41 new holiday films in Hallmark Channel's annual "Countdown to Christmas," which begins Oct. 22.
