Dolly Parton pokes fun at her 54-year marriage with Carl Thomas Dean: 'I'm sure he's sick of me'
She also spoke about her husband's relationships with her 11 siblings.
Dolly Parton and longtime love Carl Thomas Dean will be celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary next year. She offered up a rare commentary about how things are going between the two.
Speaking with Jessie Ware for the Table Manners podcast, the 74-year-old singer mentioned her upcoming anniversary and joked that, maybe, she and Dean have been married for too long.
"My husband and I have been together for 57 years and married for 54," she quipped, following up with a hearty laugh, "I’m sick of him and I’m sure he’s sick of me."
Parton also opened up about the major adjustment Dean went through when they tied the knot in 1966.
The "Jolene" singer revealed her husband has just one brother and one sister while she is one of 12 siblings. So, after they wed, Dean "had to get used to my big family" when he gained five sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
She also said that "he loves them all and they love him."
Besides chatting about Dean, the country icon also dedicated a good portion of the interview talking about the other great love of her life: food.
"I do love to eat. I love to cook. I love restaurants. Everything about food I love," she said. "Pork is my favorite meat, of course ... I love carbs."
But, Parton admits she does have to watch herself and go on a diet whenever a big project comes around because, "I'm [5 feet, 1 inch] without my shoes and my hair, but I'm [6 feet, 7 inches] with 'em!"
Parton also hilariously confessed that her three greatest weaknesses are "men, sex and food. And not necessarily in that order!"
