Ed Sheeran tests positive for COVID-19 just days before new album's release

Ed Sheeran revealed Sunday that he tested positive COVID-19, just days before his new album is set for release.
In a message posted on social media Sunday, the four-time Grammy winner wrote, "Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I've sadly tested positive for Covid, so I'm now self-isolating and following government guidelines.”
"It means that I'm now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I'll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house," he added. "Apologies to anyone I've let down. Be safe everyone x."
The "Shape of You" singer's new album, "=," pronounced "Equals," drops this Friday, Oct. 29. The album, his fourth solo studio album, follows 2011's "+" ("Plus"), 2014's "×" ("Multiply") and 2017's "÷" ("Divide").
It's unclear if Sheeran's COVID-19 diagnosis will have any effect on his scheduled "Saturday Night Live" performance for the Nov. 6 episode.
