Liam Hemsworth officially files for divorce from Miley Cyrus
The divorce comes after less than eight months of marriage.
Well, it's official, Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce Wednesday from Miley Cyrus in Los Angeles Superior Court.
This comes less than eight months of marriage as their nuptial date on the documents reads Dec. 23.
In the filing, Hemsworth cited irreconcilable differences.
The news of the power split broke over a week ago, as the duo announced they were calling it quits. At the time of the split, a rep for Cyrus told ABC News, "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time."
"Ever evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart," the statement added.
Cyrus followed up the news with an inspiring message about change.
"Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win," she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of Italy's Dolomite mountains. "Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable."
Hemsworth later posted on Instagram himself, writing, "Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward."
