Mandy Moore admits that her 20s were 'the worst'
"You couldn’t pay me money to go back to the last decade of my life," she said.
Mandy Moore couldn't be more excited about aging.
In an interview with Parade magazine, the "This Is Us" star said that she's happy to be in her 30s, as the previous decade was tumultuous.
Now 36 years old, she said, "The older I am, the more comfortable I get in my skin."
"You couldn’t pay me money to go back to the last decade of my life. The 20s were the worst," she said. "I’m excited about all the collective wisdom and clarity and giving less of a you-know-what as you get older."
Moore was 24 years old when she married musician Ryan Adams in 2009, but they separated about six years later. The actress said last year that the relationship was "entirely unhealthy," and left her feeling "so small in my own world."
"I was living my life for him," Moore told Marc Maron for his podcast. "I was lonely with him. . . . I knew that this wasn’t the rest of my life. I knew that this wasn’t the person I was supposed to be with. I knew that I wasn’t the person I was meant to be."
"I would try to fight back, but I hate confrontation," she added of their split. "It just was a lot of endless conversations, conversations in a loop, crying, all of that for months and months and months."
However, soon after, Moore met her now-husband, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, via Instagram. Last year, she told Glamour magazine that Goldsmith was "steadfast in his support" as she dealt with "the trauma of my divorce."
"He’s going to be the most tremendous father. I view the past as a stepping-stone to get me where I am today," she added. "I would gladly weather all of that a million times over if it brought me to Taylor again."
