Michelle Branch says she was mom-shamed for breastfeeding her baby
"Can we not judge one another for how we feed our babies?" the singer said.
Michelle Branch took to Twitter this week to recount how she was mom-shamed for breastfeeding her baby.
The "Everywhere" singer shared on Tuesday, "I just got shamed by another mother (who was holding her own young infant!) for nursing my 6 week old baby on a bench at a playground while my toddler was playing."
Adding the "mind blown" emoji, she added, "She said I wasn't 'being modest.' I am in shock that this kind of judgement was coming from a fellow mom!"
Branch clarified in a follow-up tweet that she was wearing a "nursing tank top" and was "seated away from others" when breastfeeding.
"Being a mom is hard enough. Can we not judge one another for how we feed our babies?" she said.
In response to a fan who expressed their feelings on the situation, Branch replied, "I was in shock, so I didn't say anything back. I'm fuming!"
The "All You Wanted" singer and her husband, The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, welcomed their daughter, Willie Jacquet Carney, on Feb. 2. The couple, who married in April 2019, also share a 3-year-old son named Rhys James Carney.
Branch has a 16-year-old daughter, Owen, from a previous marriage.
