New 'Barbie' trailer transports us to Barbie Land, introduces various Barbies and Kens
"Barbie," starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, hits theaters July 21.
A new teaser trailer for "Barbie," starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, dropped Tuesday.
In the clip we see more of the film's setting, a beachside town in the shape of a heart which features pink roads roads that spell out "Barbie Land." On the sand, all the Barbies and Kens greet each other.
Set to the Beach Boys tune "Fun, Fun, Fun," we see a montage of the Barbies and Kens getting up to some wild hijinks as Gosling's Ken proposes to spend the night with Robbie's Barbie.
"Why?" Barbie asks, to which Ken replies, "Because we're boyfriend and girlfriend."
Barbie then asks, "To do what?" Ken responds, "I'm actually not sure."
The trailer ends with Robbie's Barbie and Gosling's Ken driving their pink convertible out of Barbie Land -- indicated by them speeding past a sign which reads "Real World This Way" -- before they lose control of the car.
Ken is dead set on going with Barbie. "Did you bring your rollerblades?" she asks. "I literally go nowhere without them," he assures her.
Warner Bros. also released new character posters on Tuesday, revealing the roles each cast member is playing in the Greta Gerwig-directed film.
In addition to Robbie, the other Barbies include Ritu Arya, Nicola Coughlan, Ana Cruz Kayne, Dua Lipa, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, Hari Nef, Issa Rae, Sharon Rooney and Alexandra Shipp. Emerald Fennell also plays Midge.
Playing different versions of Ken alongside Gosling are Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Ncuti Gatwa and Simu Liu. There's also Michael Cera as Allan.
The film's human characters include Jamie Demetriou, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt and Connor Swindells. Helen Mirren is the narrator.
The movie's official logline reads: "To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you're a Ken."
