Nicole Kidman on bond with 'Big Little Lies' co-stars
The actress shares how close she is with her co-stars.
The highly-anticipated premiere of the second season of HBO's "Big Little Lies" is just over a month away, and Nicole Kidman is sharing just how strong the bonds are among the show's leading ladies.
The actress stars on the popular television adaptation of author Liane Moriarty's 2014 novel of the same name, with Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. Meryl Streep will join them in the upcoming season.
Kidman, 51, told Vanity Fair for her May cover story, "we’re all so different, yet we complement each other.”
“To watch Zoe and Shailene grow up and to see them become women…it’s so nice, and I’ve never had that," she said, also revealing that the women share a group chat.
Witherspoon, who stars in the show along with Kidman and also serves as an executive producer, told the publication about how the project is different from anything she's worked on.
“I’d been in a show with maybe one other woman, but never five female leads,” she said. “I never even had that many conversations on-screen with women who had the same size part as me."
"It’s pretty amazing to get to work with this group," she added. "I feel like it’s a singular experience I’ll never have again.’”
Streep, who will star in season 2 of the show as Nicole Kidman's character's mother-in-law, told the outlet why she wanted to get involved.
“The fans wanted more, I wanted more," she said. "I signed on without even knowing what the part was because I had such confidence in this group and just how smart they all are and how high the bar was going to be.”
The Emmy award-winning series returns to HBO June 9.
