Niecy Nash opens up about falling in love with her 'hersband,' Jessica Betts
"I met the most beautiful soul that I had ever met in my entire life."
Niecy Nash opened up about falling in love with musician Jessica Betts on Jada Pinkett-Smith's "Red Table Talk" on Wednesday.
Nash and Betts have been enjoying married life since announcing their wedding last August.
"I met the most beautiful soul that I had ever met in my entire life," Nash said during the episode about Betts, whom she lovingly calls her "hersband." "It was something that said, 'I don't want to be away from this energy.'"
The "Claws" actress admitted she "never dated a woman" prior to Betts, whom she met via social media in 2015.
"I've dated men all my life too, married a couple of them. But it was the first time in my life I felt fully seen," Nash said. "And it changed me."
Nash said she understands people who have opposing views about her past marriages to men and her present marriage with a woman.
"What I say to that is I am everything you thought I was I just lay my head somewhere else. I can still act. I can host," the "Masked Singer" host continued.
Nash also shares that her three adult children met Betts prior to them dating, though her mother, Margaret, is still learning to be "understanding" of her new relationship.
"A lot of people have said at the beginning Niecy Nash has finally come out and I said, 'Well come out of where?' Because I wasn't in anywhere," clarified the 50-year-old. "I wasn't living a sexually repressed life. I loved the boys that I was with when I was with them and now this is who I love."
This is Nash's third marriage. She was married to engineer Jay Tucker from 2011 to 2019 and pastor Don Nash from 1994 to 2007.
