Olivia Rodrigo talks sudden success of 'Drivers License': 'It's quite strange'

Olivia Rodrigo's No. 1 hit, "Drivers License," has turned her into one of the biggest pop stars on the planet seemingly overnight.

The "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" star, who's currently filming the show's second season in Utah, told Vogue the whole whirlwind of success has been unexpected and surreal.

"It's quite strange because my entire life has changed in a week and also nothing has changed at all," the 17-year-old said. "Every day I'm in my house, doing my homework, but people who I've looked up to since I was 10 are reaching out and saying they love my music. It's a strange sort of paradox."

Rodrigo's gotten shout outs from her idol Taylor Swift and gifts from Halsey, to name a few, but she also told the magazine of some other artists she'd love to collaborate with.

"I love Lorde. She's the greatest lyricist of our generation, she's incredible," Rodrigo continued. "I love Gwen Stefani too, I've been listening to tons of her stuff. No Doubt's 'Return of Saturn' is so good -- it captures what it's like to be a young woman growing up, going through difficult relationships and wondering if you're good enough."

Rodrigo has captured something similar with her own song, with everyone from teens to adults to her own therapist relating to it. It seems the only people who may not be the biggest fan of "Drivers License" are grammar nerds, who are lamenting the fact that the song title doesn't have an apostrophe.

"Oh, my gosh. I definitely got that wrong," Olivia admits. "I also put a double negative in the song when I say, ‘I've never felt this way for no one,' which is completely grammatically incorrect. The song is all over the place [laughs]."
