Shawn Mendes dropped an emotional new song just two weeks after he split from fellow singer Camila Cabello.

On Wednesday the 23-year-old debuted "It'll Be Okay," a song with a piano-backed, slow-tempo melody that is only overshadowed by the somber lyrics that detail the evolution of realizing the end of a relationship.

The song starts with Mendes questioning the situation as he sings, "Are we gonna make it? / Is this gonna hurt?" By the end, the Canadian singer seems to have come to terms with what is inevitable, that "the future we dreamed of is fading to black."

He sings in the chorus, "If you tell me you're leaving / I'll make it easy / It'll be okay / If we can't stop the bleeding / We don't have to fix it / We don't have to stay / I will love you either way."

Ahead of dropping "It'll Be Okay," Mendes wrote in an Instagram post, "It feels like I [haven't] truly connected with you guys in a while. I miss you. I hope you love this song."

The sentimental record comes after he and Cabello broke up following two years together.

"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever," the "SeƱorita" collaborators shared in announcements on their respective Instagram Stories.

"[W]e started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends," they continued. "[W]e so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
