Will Smith brings out the whole family for 'Aladdin' premiere
Jada stunned as the Genie! #Fire.
It's certainly a movie for families and Will Smith took that to heart when he brought the whole Smith clan out for the big "Aladdin" premiere Tuesday night.
The world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood was all about celebrating the magic that the cast and crew brought onscreen for the retelling of this Disney classic.
Will Smith stars as the Genie in the film, the role made iconic by Robin Williams in the 1992 animated original. Smith's wife and fellow actress, Jada Pinkett Smith, celebrated the moment by dressing up as her husband's character.
On the purple carpet, Smith told ABC News he’s thrilled that fans can finally see the movie that took two years to complete.
"This is a beautiful night, it's been a long time coming," said Smith. "Two years to get here, and I'm on this red carpet with a movie that I love and I'm excited to have the world see it."
Smith said he's equally excited about the updates made to the new Aladdin compared to the original.
It's been reported that this iteration of Jasmine is more empowering and has a surprise ending no one could expect.
"The idea that her character wants to rule -- that added such a new flavor to the interactions between Jasmine and Aladdin," Smith said. "And then the new song 'Speechless,' I think, is the greatest accomplishment of this movie."
Smith's daughter Willow was also on hand to support her father.
"Aladdin" also stars Mena Massoud in the title role and Naomi Scott as Jasmine. It opens Friday, May 24.
