Look inside Kim and Kanye's McMansion-turned-monastery
“Everything we do is an art installation and a playroom," West said.
Kim Kardashian West has given her social media followers glimpses into her Southern California home in the past, but now she's providing a full tour.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star and her husband, Kanye West, opened up their McMansion-turned-minimalist dream hometo Architectural Digest magazine.
Kanye West has been collecting furniture for some time. He told the magazine he sold his Maybach to buy a Jean Royère Polar Bear sofa. Although Kanye West has an eye for art, he enlisted the help of Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt to overhaul the house.
“Kanye and Kim wanted something totally new. We didn’t talk about decoration but a kind of philosophy about how we live now and how we will live in the future," Vervoordt told the magazine. "We changed the house by purifying it, and we kept pushing to make it purer and purer."
Kardashian West, 39, and Kanye West, 42, agreed when they bought the home that it should have a neutral palette, as the reality TV star said that she likes to "come into a place and immediately feel the calmness." However, she had to push West to make sure that there was functionality, too.
And although the color scheme may not seem like the best idea given the Wests' four young children, North, 6, Saint, 4, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, eight months, the reality TV star insisted: "We don't take it too seriously."
“The kids ride their scooters down the hallways and jump around on top of the low Axel tables, which they use as a kind of stage," West said. "This house may be a case study, but our vision for it was built around our family."
“Everything we do is an art installation and a playroom," he added.
