Principal announces snow day with epic rendition of 'Ice Ice Baby'
"I've had students say, 'When are you dropping the whole album?'"
A principal's recent snow day announcement has students and their families smiling through Illinois' cold weather blast.
Cary-Grove High School principal Neil Lesinski recorded a creative rendition of Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" with his two children, Leo, 3 and Ella, 1, by his side. The video was meant to remind the high school's students that classes would be canceled on Monday, Jan. 28.
Lesinski said he decided to come up with his own video after viewing fun snow day announcements online. He released his "Ice Ice Baby" video on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on Sunday after emails went out telling students that schools in his district would be closed.
"We've had record lows," he said about the local forecast. "Tonight it's going to be -19 and the real feel is going to be -43. We're in a deep freeze here."
In the video, Lesinski also told his students to binge Netflix, play Fortnite or use their phones while staying in bed.
The footage has racked up nearly 70,000 views on Facebook.
"I've had students say, 'When are you dropping the whole album?'" Lesinski, who is currently in his second year as principal at Cary-Grove, told "Good Morning America."
"I've been pleased to see how many people have been smiling about it, laughing about it and that's what it's all about," Lesinski said.
