Whether you are bored while social distancing, ready to improve your routine or simply excited to learn new beauty tips, many of us can turn to social media to find just what we are looking for.

Speaking of which, there's a trendy hair hack that's recently gone viral, in which people are using a heat-free technique to create loose flowing curls or waves.

Celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan demonstrated how to do this hack in an Instagram video she posted. "It's inspired by rag curls," she told "Good Morning America."

She added, "It's an easy way to give curl to the hair overnight."

Marjan also explained that she loved how this technique creates more of a loose curl as opposed to a crimped effect like regular braids would.

Heat-free waves using stockings:

Step 1: Roll up stockings and clip to the top of your head.

Step 2: Split hair into two sections and three-strand French braid each section all the way to ends. Pro tip: Each time you add hair to each section of your braids, don't add to the section that has the stocking.

Step 3: Sleep with your hair French braided overnight.

Step 4: Unravel braids when you wake up, and be sure to be gentle to prevent frizz. Release stocking from hair.

Step 5: Use your fingers to break up the texture and add volume to waves.

Like many others, Marjan noticed this idea begin to trend on TikTok.

"Good Morning America" social media producer Shannon McLellan gave it a try and shared her before-and-after results on Twitter, claiming that "it worked!"
