Travon Free pays tribute to Tamir Rice, Eric Garner and more at 2021 Oscars

For the 2021 Oscars, Travon Free paid a special tribute through his style.

The comedian and actor wore a black and gold suit designed by Dolce and Gabbana. His look included a jacket that includes names such as Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile and more who have died at the hands of police.

Free's look also included a pin with the numbers "24" and "2," which might be a nod to the late NBA star Kobe Bryant.

In an Instagram photo, he posed alongside film and television Martin Desmond Roe who is wearing a similar ensemble.

"Game time," he captioned the image.

Free is the writer behind the Live Action Short Film Oscar-winning, "Two Distant Strangers," which was co-directed by him and Roe.

The short film surrounds a man trying to go home to his dog but gets stuck in a time loop that leads him to relive an unfortunate run-in with the police.

The 32-minute drama features Joey Bada$$, Andrew Howard and Zaria Simone.

"Today, the police will kill three people," Free said upon accepting his Oscar award for best live action short film.

"And tomorrow, the police will kill three people," he continued. "And the day after that, the police will kill three people. Because on average, the police in America every day kill three people. Which amounts to about 1,000 people a year. And those people happen to be disproportionately black people. I just ask that you please not be indifferent. Please don't be indifferent to our pain."
