YouTube announces Beauty Festival featuring Selena Gomez and more
Participants also include Gwyneth Paltrow, Michelle Phan and Ashley Graham.
Festival season is upon us, and while things still look a little different, YouTube has found a beauty-full way to join in on the fun.
The online video platform has announced its inaugural YouTube Beauty Festival that's scheduled to premiere May 14.
The virtual festival, hosted by YouTube's head of fashion and beauty, Derek Blasberg, will be summit-style, bringing together everyone from beauty creators to public figures all in the name of beauty.
On Thursday, YouTube announced that Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Graham would be added to an already impressive lineup of notables.
The platform initially announced that notable creators such as Michelle Phan, Manny MUA and Patrick Starrr as well as celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton and Pharrell Williams would be present for the beauty-filled affair.
Blasberg told People beauty is one of the strongest and largest communities on YouTube.
After initially imagined as an in-person event in 2020, it was postponed and reimagined as a virtual event for 2021 due to the pandemic.
"This year will be virtual, but we are optimistic that we'll be in-person next May," he said.
Presented by YouTube Originals and produced by Studio Sabia, the event celebrates a diverse mix of professional perspectives to enlighten viewers on a variety of industry-specific subjects including a Black Beauty Founder Roundtable segment with YouTube's Head of Beauty Creators Chanel Tyler.
"Viewers can expect to be inspired, energized and maybe even emotionally moved by some of the stories that are being shared," Tyler told People.
"There are so many gems from how to take up space and be a force in an oversaturated market, what it feels like to be one of so few, how to build a strong and engaged community, how to be an ally as a brand and founder, and what having equitable business practices actually means," she said.
