Clive Owen Talks 'The Confirmation,' Shaving Mustache After 'The Knick'
The actor discusses his role in the new comedy and his future projects.
— -- Clive Owen joined “Good Morning America” to talk about his new comedy film “The Confirmation,” which is about a father-son weekend that turns into the adventure of a lifetime after Owen’s character’s prized toolbox is stolen.
“I play a father who’s estranged from his boy and takes him for the weekend and gets his tool kit stolen and we spend the weekend trying to track it down while I’m struggling with my own demons,” the Golden Globe winner said on “GMA” today. “We meet a whole host of crazy characters and have a crazy weekend, but really enjoy all that time bonding as a father and a son.”
His son is played by 12-year-old Jaeden Lieberher, who Owen calls “fantastic.”
“I had one of the best times with that kid,” Owen, 51, recalled. “He is such a phenomenal young actor and he’s a lovely guy as well.”
“I love working with kids, actually,” he added. “I think they open you up and make you a better actor because they’re so...open and instinctive. I had a great time working with him.”
Owen was sporting a cleanly-shaven face, losing the mustache after the second season of Cinemax’s “The Knick” ended. He is now working on two upcoming sci-fi movies.
“I’ve gone from 100 years ago to I’ve jumped to the future,” he said. “Shaving the mustache is the first thing I do the minute we wrap the last season, believe me.”
When asked if the mustache will make a return, Owen replied, “Not if I can help it.”
“The Confirmation” is in select theaters and on demand tomorrow.
