— -- Fashion faux pas are now a thing of the past.

Amy Synnot, the executive editor-in-chief of InStyle, stopped by “Good Morning America” today to offer secrets to in-a-hurry style solutions in no time.

Here are Amy’s easy hacks to save you in a fashion emergency:

Polish Jewelry with Acidic Foods For gold pieces, take a soft cloth, dip it in light beer and rub it in. “Beer has ammonia in it, but it’s diluted enough that it won’t damage your fine jewelry,” Amy said. The acidity of ketchup can take imperfections out of silver, which tarnishes more easily. Submerge for 5 to 10 minutes.

Flat Iron Shirt Collars Make sure your flat iron is clean and put the setting on low to medium. Hold it on the collar and move it slowly to take care of any wrinkles.

Use Hair Bands and Safety PinsIf you need some extra inches to fit into your jeans, take an elastic hair band, loop it through the pant hole and wrap it around the button. Need to fix a popped button? Push a safety pin on both sides of your pants (one pin near the button, another near the hole). Place a hair band in the middle and snap each pin closed.
