Jack Hanna Brings Amur Leopard Cubs, a Red Kangaroo and an Echidna to 'GMA'
“There are less than 50 of these left in the wild,” Hanna said of the cubs.
— -- Jack Hanna, director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo, brought some of his animal friends to “Good Morning America.”
Ivan and Anya, two 7-month-old Amur leopard cubs, were a bit squirmy while sitting on “GMA” co-anchor Lara Spencer and special contributor Jesse Palmer’s laps.
“There are less than 50 of these left in the wild,” Hanna explained of the rambunctious leopards. “In Russia towards China, this animal’s coat was one of the most sought-after coats in the world. You see it feels like silk? You touch a tiger or a lion or a cheetah, it’d be a lot rougher.”
Jungle Jack also shared an 8-month Red kangaroo named Sheldon and a mystery animal that Spencer and Palmer had to feel inside a concealed box, which turned out to be a short-beaked echidna from Australia.
“It’s one of only two egg-laying mammals in the world,” Hanna explained of the porcupine-looking creature. “A platypus and this lays eggs.”
