TomKat Expecting TomKitten
Oct. 6, 2005 — -- The love affair between megastars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has been fast and furious, and now Tom's sister, Lee Anne DeVette, has told ABC News that the 26-year-old Holmes is expecting the couple's first child.
Holmes is feeling great, according to People magazine, which broke the story.
"Katie has been feeling great and she's actually been very active," said Julie Jordan, People's associate bureau chief. "On weekends when Tom's off they go biking and hiking and are really enjoying quality time. Pregnancy's not slowed her down thus far."
Holmes will need her energy to plan the couple's wedding. Cruise proposed to Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower in June, but no wedding date has been announced.
It is rumored that Cruise, an active Scientologist, wants to get married at the Scientology Celebrity Center in Hollywood, Calif., while Holmes, a Catholic-turned-Scientologist, is said to be pushing for a ceremony at a beach resort in Mexico.
From the beginning of their passionate, and public, romance there have been rumors the two would marry.
"Marriage, it's exciting," Holmes told "Good Morning America" in June. "It makes me smile. He's the most amazing man in the whole world."
But since the beginning, there have been questions about whether Cruise and Holmes are truly in love or are acting for the paparazzi to promote their films, "Batman Begins" and "War of the Worlds."
"In Hollywood, there's always going to be speculation, there's always going to be conspiracy theorists," Jordan said. "But right now these two are welcoming a child into the world and everyone's pretty excited for them."
Cruise has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. He is currently shooting "Mission Impossible 3." This will be Holmes' first child.
