What Makes Up A Diabetic Nutrition Plan And How Is It Tailored To Me?
Dr. Rena Wing answers the question: 'How do you make a diabetic nutrition plan?'
— -- Question: What are the components of a diabetic nutrition plan and how is it tailored to me?
Answer: A nutrition plan has to work for you. It has to take account of your cardiovascular risk factors. It's based on your weight and whether you need to try to maintain your weight or lose some weight. It needs to be based on the type of medications you're taking for your diabetes. And finally it needs to include concepts about what foods you like, what foods you don't like, and your family situation and all the personal things that influence your diet. So when developing your nutrition plan, it's very important that you work with your physician and particularly with a nutrition counselor to make sure that the nutrition plan really works for you.
