Health Tip: Skin Products That Contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids

June 12 -- (HealthDay News) -- Many skin products that claim to help sun damage, wrinkles and other hallmarks of age include a class of chemical compound called alpha hydroxy acids.
The National Women's Health Information Center says some people who use these products have adverse reactions, which may include:
- Excessive reddening.
- Swollen skin, particularly around the eyes.
- Blisters.
- Burning.
- Itching or rash.
- Discolored skin.
- Bleeding.
- Increased risk of sunburn.
