— -- Question:Can caffeine be harmful and should I give it up if I have high blood pressure?

Answer: Drinking a modest amount of coffee -- one to two cups a day -- is not associated with an increased risk of heart disease. However, for people with high blood pressure, their blood pressure may go up after consuming a cup of coffee.

And for people who already have heart disease, it may be too much of a stimulant and they should be talking to their doctor before consuming coffee.
