July 1, 2009— -- Question: What diet and nutritional issues are particularly important for men?

Answer: The same dietary issues that are important for women are also important for men. It does get down to the basics of eating a healthy diet. In particular, however, men tend to develop cardiovascular disease about a decade earlier than women. So they should pay attention to the dietary factors that influence the risk for cardiovascular disease; that is, eating a diet that's low in saturated and trans fats and high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans and other plant products.
