Royal Wedding Dress Denial

April 20, 2011— -- Sophie Cranston is attempting to put to rest the rumor that she is designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress.

Libelula, Cranston's fashion label, emailed a statement on Wednesday denying their involvement in the royal wedding, according to Women's Wear Daily.

"Libelula has a company policy of not commenting on any of the work they do for private clients," the email read. "However, due to the unprecedented media attention, they would like to make the following statement: We are not designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress. We, like everyone else, can't wait to find out who is!"

The speculation surrounding Sophie Cranston seemed to have some merit because Kate Middleton is a known fan of the British designer's work. The future princess wore a Libelula velvet dress coat, pictured above, to a friend's wedding back in January. Cranston founded Libelula (Spanish for "dragonfly) after studying under Alexander McQueen and Alice Temperley

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail claimed Cranston was receiving design suggestions from the bride herself. Kate Middleton reportedly wanted her dress to include ivory satin, lace and pearls, and a 10-foot train.
