The Israel Defense Forces continued its intense airstrike and ground campaigns in Gaza -- particularly in the north of the strip -- and in Lebanon, with Israeli attacks on targets nationwide including in the capital Beirut. The strikes form the backdrop for a fresh diplomatic push by the White House ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's return to the Oval Office in January.

Tensions also remain high between Israel and Iran after the former launched what it called "precise strikes on military targets" in several locations in Iran following Tehran's Oct. 1 missile barrage.

Israel has caused 'massive, deliberate forced displacement' of Palestinians in Gaza: Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch released a report documenting evidence of Israeli authorities causing "massive, deliberate forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza" since October 2023, the organization said Thursday. The group also accused Israeli officials of "war crimes and crimes against humanity."

"Israeli forces have carried out deliberate, controlled demolitions of homes and civilian infrastructure, including in areas where they have apparent aims of creating 'buffer zones' and security 'corridors,' from which Palestinians are likely to be permanently displaced. Contrary to claims by Israeli officials, their actions do not comply with the laws of war," Human Rights Watch said, in a statement about the report.

Human Rights Watch interviewed displaced Palestinians in Gaza and analyzed Israel's evacuation system, "including 184 evacuation orders and satellite imagery confirming the widespread destruction," the organization said.

"There is no plausible imperative military reason to justify Israel’s mass displacement of nearly all of Gaza’s population, often multiple times. Rather than ensuring civilians’ security, military 'evacuation orders' have caused grave harm," the group said.

The Israel Defense Forces have not commented on the report.

"These strikes were a part of the IDF's ongoing efforts to dismantle and degrade Hezbollah's military capabilities and the IDF is continuing to strike Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure sites in the Dahiya area," the force wrote on X.

Lebanese authorities say more than 3,200 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since Oct. 8, 2023.

A collection of 30 aid organizations warned in a statement on Thursday that Israel's offensive in north Gaza has suppressed the level of humanitarian aid entering the strip to "its lowest level in over a year."

"The ongoing Israeli bombardment, siege, and evacuation orders are severely hampering aid distribution," the agencies -- which included Mercy Corps, Oxfam, Save the Children and the Norwegian Refugee Council -- said.

"Israeli airstrikes killed at least 20 aid workers between Oct. 10 and Nov. 13," the statement added. "These staff were killed in displacement camps, at home and while delivering life-saving assistance."

"Israeli forces killed aid workers both in areas under evacuation, such as Jabalia and Beit Lahiya, and in the government of Israel-designated 'humanitarian zone,' underscoring that nowhere is safe for Palestinians," the NGOs added.
