Security video shows one woman hanging onto a pipe as pedestrians rush to help.
— -- Security video captured the moment when a sinkhole opened up and swallowed five commuters at a bus stop in the northeastern Chinese city of Harbin.
The footage from this past Saturday showed commuters standing or walking when the hole suddenly opened up. Three people can be seen falling straight into the hole, one woman clinging to pipes just underneath the sidewalk and another standing on the edge falling sideways into the hole.
The 10-feet-deep sinkhole also consumed the bus sign, a local station, Heilongjiang Television, reported, adding that bystanders immediately rushed to pull the five victims out and call emergency services.
Four commuters sustained minor injuries to their feet, legs, arms and shoulders and were treated at a nearby hospital, the station reported.
The dramatic scene was caught by a nearby noodle shop's surveillance camera, according to the report.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, which may have been caused after heavy rain leaked into the drain pipe under the stop, the station reported. The hole was quickly fixed, the station added.
