Hostage Crisis in Dutch City of Almelo

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, June 16, 2008 — -- The Dutch broadcaster NOS is reporting that an armed man has taken four people hostage in the city of Almelo.

The national broadcaster says a cafe owner involved in a legal fight with the city is suspected of taking a city council member and three others hostage.

The report Monday says the man set fire to his cafe before driving to Town Hall and entering the building. NOS says police and emergency crews are on the scene.
