Missouri Girl Captures Her First Day of Kindergarten in Adorable Video
Adrianna Duncan wore a GoPro camera to document her first day of school.
— -- One kids adorable video on the first day of kindergarten is reminding viewers what it was like to be young and courageous on that very first day of school.
"My favorite moment from the video was seeing the principal giving high-fives and the bubbles," said dad, Derek Duncan, who works as a digital communications specialist at Parkway School District in St. Louis, Missouri. "It's kind of a welcoming environment.
"We're hoping that we are not a unique situation, but that all schools and experiences are like this, where one is very brave and happy to be there, as they embark on a new adventure."
Duncan, a father of two, told ABC News that the idea behind the video sparked when he saw a similar project last year of a student recording their first day of high school.
On August 12, Duncan said he strapped a GoPro camera on daughter Adrianna, 6, in an effort to document the sights and sounds of her first day at Craig Elementary School.
The three-minute long footage reveals a montage of the little girl from the moment she boards a school bus, to being greeted by teachers and coloring in her new classroom.
"We thought it would be an awesome idea of what it would look like from a kindergartner's point of view," he said. "We hope when people watch the video, they see themselves or their own kids who are about to go to kindergarten, or go to school for the first time or maybe going off to college.
"We know this time of year is pretty emotional for parents -- more-so than kids probably," Duncan added. "We hope they see it and think of being young and being brave,"
The video has racked up over 206,000 views since being posted onto Parkway School District's Facebook page.
