Mom Shares Weekly Photos of Baby Son in Onesies
Each onesie has a funny message or theme.
— -- What began for new mom Ceylan Sahin Eker as a way to share her son, Timur, with her and her husband’s large families has turned into a viral sensation.
Eker posts a photo of her nearly 9-month-old son every Thursday in a different onesie, a onesie that always has a funny saying and is often paired with appropriately themed props.
“We decided that it should be on Thursdays since he was born on a Thursday,” Eker said of the day each week she takes photos for her “Happy Thursdays” photo series.
Eker gave birth to Timur in February in Boston, during one of the city’s major snowstorms, before the family returned to live in their native Istanbul, Turkey, where Eker now works as the marketing manager for her family’s business.
She says she began designing her own onesies for Timur after he grew out of his newborn ones, coming up with new ideas, she says, at the only free time she has, usually 2 o’clock in the morning.
“It is actually quite hard to think of new onesies for babies other than the poop theme,” Eker told ABC News via email. “I can come up with 50 poop onesies. It’s such a fun word!”
Eker says she upgraded from her phone to using a camera for the photos so the print quality would be better for Timur’s great-grandparents. She shoots the photos herself and sets up all the props as well.
“Every Thursday when my husband comes back from work, we pour ourselves a drink and look at least 100 pictures from that day to choose the perfect one [to post on Instagram],” she wrote. “And then we decide on what to write together on the post.
“It’s our little fun thing to do together after all the maintenance you have to do,” Eker continued. “I think we’re going to continue until his first birthday but we might continue as long as he [Timur] enjoys it.”
