Ostrich Chases Down Cyclists in South Africa
Some guys training for a bicycle race were greeted by an unexpected guest.
— -- A speedy ostrich chasing down cyclists in South Africa was captured in a hilarious video.
The head-cam footage was recorded by Oleksiy Mishchenko and shared Friday onto YouTube, where it's received over 400,000 views.
"Suddenly, I spotted a white ostrich on my left, then this beast jumped on the road from the right and started chasing my friends!" Mishchenko wrote on YouTube. "It was a little scary at first, but then I thought I [was] gonna fell of [sic] my bike from laughter."
Mishchenko indicated that he and his fellow cyclists were in South Africa for the Cape Argus Tour, a large cycling event.
He and two others were embarking on a "pre-race ride" to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, when the ostrich began running after them on a long stretch of deserted road.
Mishchenko wrote that "the ostrich didn't have any problem" keeping up at 50 kilometers (31 miles) an hour.
"[A]pparently they do 70km/h with no sweat," he added. "Luckily the creature decided to leave us alone, as we were running out of road."
"My guess he wanted to show off in front of his girlfriend, I bet she was very impressed," Mishchenko joked.
