Photographer Monika Malek's project 'I'm Still a Cat' features a total of 100 disabled felines in hopes that potential owners will look past their flaws.

Malek says she's never owned a disabled cat, but has met many of them through cat foundations and people who volunteer their cats for her photo project.

Malek found many of the cats for her project by putting out a call on her Facebook page. "The more I've met them, the more I felt that there's nothing to be afraid [of] and people take animals' disabilities to be exactly as people's disabilities," she says.

Malek also works with pro-animal foundations to photograph cats for adoption announcements.

Many of the cats photographed are either missing a limb, or a facial feature, but Malek says they're still perfect.

"[The cats] still jump everywhere," Malek says. "Cats without one leg are still perfectly well with jumping, meowing and stealing food from the plates. When I understood this, I've wanted to show other people that disabled cat is completely normal cat."

Malek is a cat lover and says she has two of her own. "Every day is better with them," she adds. "I love them purring."

Malek says she wants her photos to change the way people look at disabled cats. "I hope that when people see disabled cats during normal cat stuff, they will understand that there's nothing to be afraid of."
