Popping the Question at a Drive-Thru: Sugar With That Proposal?

May 27, 2014 -- Turns out you need to be ready for anything before your morning coffee. Stephanie Pasternak got the surprise of her life when her now-fiance Jared Gaber proposed at her regular Tim Hortons drive-through -- and all before she had a chance to get some caffeine.

Gaber, 28, thought for a while the best way to surprise his fiancé.

“Stephanie is the most unpredictable person ever, but the one thing that’s very consistent in her schedule is whenever she goes into her office, she stops at Tim Hortons,” he said. “She likes to talk on the way to work even though we’re in separate cars. Right before she gets to her office she tells me to hold on a second and I hear her place her order at the drive-through, so it just sort of dawned on me, ‘What if I was the guy who took her order?’”

Gaber worked out the details with the Tim Hortons corporate office and jumped into the role of taking Pasternak’s delivery order this past Thursday morning. He brought his friend Jesse Cappe of Big Ticket Productions along to film the moment.

“When she pulled up I was almost speechless because she was going so crazy and she looked so beautiful,” he recalled. “I had the whole thing planned the night before of what I was going to say and I practiced it that morning. And then when she got to the window I blacked out and I was like, ‘God, I hope I said sort of what I wanted to say.”

In the video, Gaber tells Pasternak, 32, that she was the “first women I ever fell in love with and the last woman I ever wanted to be in love with. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?”

Pasternak is visibly overwhelmed and said yes before jumping through the window of her car to embrace Gaber.

“It was amazing. My two favorite parts of that entire video are when she first pulls up and she’s like, “Oh my god, what’s going on?” and when she climbs through the window to kiss,” Gaber said. “The reaction was just priceless.”
