Democrats Press for Federal Investigation Into Trump University
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have written to the DOJ.
— -- Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee wrote to the Department of Justice today asking Attorney General Loretta Lynch to look into the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s $25,000 donation to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
The letter follows an extensive Washington Post report on Trump's eponymous charitable organization. Trump aides told the newspaper that the foundation mistakenly donated $25,000 to a group backing Bondi in 2013, while her office was considering an investigation into Trump University.
"This fact pattern indicates that these payments may have influenced Ms. Bondi's official decision not to participate in litigation against Mr. Trump," Democrats wrote in their letter.
Trump's campaign paid a penalty to the Internal Revenue Service for violating tax laws.
