President Donald Trump signed a six-month government funding bill on Saturday that was approved by Congress on Friday night, averting a government shutdown as his administration continues its efforts to remake the federal government.

Trump also signed an executive order on Saturday that rescinded 19 executive actions issued by former President Joe Biden's administration on gender, labor policies and industry regulations. Trump has so far reversed nearly 100 actions issued by Biden.

Meanwhile, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order that blocks the administration from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport noncitizens, including alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

ACLU sues Trump admin over Alien Enemies Act

The ACLU has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in anticipation of the president invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

Although there has been no announcement of the act being invoked, the lawsuit claims the ACLU and other representing parties have reason to believe the president has invoked "or will imminently invoke" the AEA to speed up the administration's mass deportation goals and target the Tren de Aragua Venezuelan gang.

The ACLU is representing five plaintiffs they believe have been moved to detention centers in Texas intended to be "staging facilities to remove Venezuelan men under the AEA," court documents show.

"President Trump is committed to continuing the review and repeal of harmful Biden administration policies to usher in a new golden age for America," the White House said in a fact sheet.

Trump rescinded Biden's executive action that "elevated radical gender ideology in U.S. diplomacy and foreign aid." He also ended "mandates" for electric heat pumps and solar panels and reversed the order that raised the minimum wage for federal contractors to $15 an hour.
